Sarah Stanfield Pitts was born about 1795 in Tennessee. She was probably the daughter of John Stanfield and Sarah Dillon.

In the 1840 census she was between 40 and 50 (1790-1800). Sarah was 59 in 1850 (1791) and 66 in 1860 (1794).

She married John Pitts before 1820. Their children and life together are described in detail in the section on John and Sarah Pitts.

Sarah died between the 1860 and 1870 censuses.
